Current work for schools

I have recently been contacted by two schools' head Teachers.

The Bures CE Primary school, situated in a Suffolk village, have had a new school
hall built with wooden fittings in pale Beech.

They wanted a single but stylish cross to go in the central window of the school hall
and were interested in purchasing my 1 Cu from the front of my brochure, and it needed to be 60cm high and set on a plinth.

Despite the rather high cost of solid Beech I managed to find some, have completed
this task and had it delivered.  The immediate response has been one of delight,
and the school may be looking to buy in small replicas of this to sell on to parents
as part of money raising, and increasing parental awareness of their commitment
to the gospel.

I am currently waiting for pictures of the completed cross in its new setting, and have
been delighted by the challenge and final result.  Pictures of the setting and the cross
are shown below.  The cross is intended to be placed in the middle window.

Above is a picture of the Bishop of St Edmonsbury and Ipswich
who came to dedicate the cross.

Included below are two of the four letters sent to me by the children of the school.

Thankyou for carving the wonderful cross.  The thing that is special about it is that the
cross isn't made of anything, so you can see through it, and if you put it to the light, and
look through it, all you can see is the bright light.  The place where we put it is in our hall.
It reminds us of our church.  With best wishes, Emily

Thank you for the cross. Its fantastic.  I love the way you cut out a curvy cross and how it's
made out of light.  It's really clever.  We keep it in our School hall.  It makes our school hall
much nicer and more decorated.  It also helps us remember Jesus.  Yours sincerely Ben.

I am writing to tell you how wonderful your wooden cross is.  We keep it in the hall.  I like
the way the cross is made of light and only its background is wooden.  On a sunny day its
as if heaven itself is shining down on it.  We would never have enjoyed it if you hadn't made
it, so thank you s much.  Ross.

Thank you so much for the cross made out of light and the wood softly  smoothed around it.
It goes perfectly well with our new hall.  Its interesting that the outside is smoother than the
inside, and that's what I like about it.  Thank you so much.  Yours sincerely Freya.

I like it because it looks like darkness with Jesus shining through making it into goodness,
and also it looks good in the school hall.  Yours sincerely George.

Thank you for the wooden cross, we keep it in the school hall.   We like the shape.  We feel
in a safer place.  It must have taken a long time.  It looks very nice because the light shines
through the cross.  Yours sincerely Megan.

Following this I have now completed eight round crosses for a CE Primary school in Rothwell
Leeds where the Head Teacher wanted crosses to be set on display in 8 class-rooms.   Designs are
(all 30cm in diameter) shown below and will undoubtedly enhance the eight classrooms.
