SPECIAL COMMISSIONS

A transportable TRIO of crosses, specially commissioned for the
Catholic Education Service several years ago by an ex-colleague

The piece shown below was done seven years ago when my school decided to create

THE MILLENIUM GARDEN.

I wasn't asked, but thought on taking a careful look at the possibilities, that a suitable cross would be appropriate to grace the brick wall near the staffroom windows.  A sheet of sketches later, and a brief check with a rather surprised Head Teacher (Terry Murphy) and Chaplain (Rob Casey) and the creation took - off, mainly on my back lawn (because of its size).  It was installed in time for the celebrations, and has stayed there ever since, serving a quiet but relevant focus, (we are a Catholic school).

I am always open to carrying out individual work for special occasions.  I have done a number which I have not yet recorded.

The latest commission was one requested by my school's JUSTICE and PEACE group.
I was asked to produce a plaque or trophy for this group in May, and after some thought agreed to do this as Fiona Anderson, the teacher responsible for the group at the time said they wanted something made "in house" as a reward for the student who had given the most all-round commitment to the work of the group .

The result - after playing with a number of ideas, and moving from sketches, to card models, then Hardboard.  Finally - casting caution aside I found the right piece of wood, a chunk of Cherry, (which I had been greedily hoarding) and the trophy GREW as possibilities occurred to me.  Here it is shown below:-

The J and P and the base are Cherry, the dove is Beech
